Township Rugby

Club History

The Township Rugby club was founded in 2018 by Ray McFall, Kevin Collins and Justine Collins. The goal was to give kids in the town and surrounding areas the opportunity to play rugby, learn team work and have fun.

The program started with 25 kids in the Rookie Flag program. The first season saw the team travel to South Jersey for the Rookie Rugby Jamboree and take second overall. The next seasons saw the program swell to over 75 kids from five to ten years of age. Players came from all over South Jersey and came from different athletic backgrounds.

In 2021 with the original kids starting to age out of the Rookie Rugby program the team leadership decided to create a U12 and U14 team. With the addition of new players along with the core group the team was able to field a full U12 and U14 team. The teams played a total of eight games going 8-0 in their first seasons. Many of our U12s got experience playing at the U14 level. In 2022 the U12s went 6-4 and were fourth in the state tournament. The U14s were 8-1 and placed first in the State Championship tournament.

The team was able to thrive due to the parent involvement especially from our Team Moms Justine Collins and Kelly McFall. Without these two we wouldn’t be as successful as we are now. The team plans on expanding to U16 and U19 with the addition of a girls team in the future.
